Audio Tours and Discussions
Conversations with Terika Dean, director of the Lead Belly estate and legendary record producer Joe Boyd.
Thank you for your patience over the last couple of months. Lance and I have been working hard on production for the Dust-to-Digital podcast. We will have a launch date and more details to share soon!
We just returned from the Big Ears Music Festival in Knoxville, Tennessee. While there, we interviewed several artists for our podcast. Also, as part of the festival, Lance interviewed Terika Dean the great-great niece of Huddie “Lead Belly” Ledbetter, and the director of the Lead Belly estate. They were joined on stage by The Gladson Family Band who played a couple of Lead Belly songs. The audio of the interview and the musical performances is offered below for paid subscribers.

Also participating at the festival was legendary record producer Joe Boyd. Over the weekend he presented several films, had a live interview with writer Ann Powers, and shared an audio-visual tour of his latest book, And the Roots of Rhythm Remain: A Journey Through Global Music, with audio and film clips.
Joe is in Atlanta today and tomorrow, and we are making the most of it! Tonight, in partnership with A Capella Books, he will join Lance at the historic Manuel’s Tavern for what promises to be an inspiring evening of conversation and music centered around Joe’s new book.
Tomorrow night, April 1st, Joe and Lance will co-DJ at the Commune listening room. Together, they will create an audio tour of Joe's new book, And the Roots of Rhythm Remain: A Journey Through Global Music. This promises to be a fun night of musical adventure. We hope you can join us!
